Uganda update 2
After one great month spent in Uganda with kayaking on White Nile we needed to come back home. I am happy to be home again but I can say I already miss this nice sunny country too.
This year it was our fifth time there. I would like to share my memories of this trip with you.
If you spend there so much time as we, you will assume that nothing surprises you anymore but opposite is true.
After a some days paddling on Club wave and Nile Special we went to try superhole and paddle the day 2 section. On the way back down the Forest Cobra crossed our way. We were very frighted and paddled as fast as possible far away. It followed us a while but then it changed direction. Than we saw cobra and other big snake twice in area of Hairy lemon’s island.
After two week spent on island we went to Bujagali to have a rest from freestyle and just paddle rapids. The roads were wet and our driver wasn’t very skilled so he sticked in one big hole. We almost flipped over and needed to jump out from windows. I can say that driving on the roads was bigger adrenaline than paddling the rapids.
In the middle of February they will close the day1 section and will start to build the last dam’s wall. We went to paddle this section for last time. The Hump, Bujagali falls, Fifty-fifty and Silverback are the rapids witch will be flooded.
One day up there in Bujagali we felt a small earthquake. Nothing serious but than during the night it come again and it was bigger and quite scary. Everything was shaking even some rocks in water has moved.
This year was quite strange because many people got sick. Me and Peter we had flue for first few days. Peter even took antibiotics but he could kayak during that time so it was ok. Our friend Vlado got blood infection, some had digestive problems, I had ear infection but it is quite normal for Africa. You need to be very careful and we travel every time with big box of medicaments. Last few days Peter started to feel sick again. He tought he have malaria so he did test for it witch were positive. After three day of treatment Peter decided that something goes wrong se we went to clinic to Kampala. Actually it was our last day and our flight home was at 11.35 pm. We were in hurry but we made it. Peter was tested and they found out that it isn’t malaria but something else. He got antibiotics and now he is feeling much more better.
Now we are at home and have a rest for while. We are quite destroyed after paddling a twice almost every day for whole month. But we will rest just for while because new season is waiting and we wanted to be prepare as good as possible. So see you on Plattling this is our next training destination.
Enjoy some of the best pictures from there.
