First Alpin Cup in Graz

This weekend was in Graz first event from series of Alpin Cups. Me and Peter we traveled to Graz in Wednesday to train. The forecast wasn’t very optimistic for these few days but we were praying for nice warm sunny weekend. When we came water level was higher and playspot was more like wave-hole. It was quite difficult to paddle you needed power to rotate all the tricks. During the evening it started to rain and in the morning water was higher. It was now a nice wave where all the tricks are possible. Morning riding was really nice but is level is very good also for surfers so afternoon we had to wait in the line too long. Water was still rising so Friday it started to be quite flat and slow. We were very tired from training so we had just one short training this day to get fresh for competition. In the evening the local kayak club made a cool grill party and invited every paddler. Saturday we were very lucky because water dropped and wave was again nice for us. This year came about 60 competitors from 7 different countries. In woman category competed 13 girls. In qualification I got first with two nice rides. Peter was also first but with almost a 1000points difference from the second place. He was paddling great all the time and scored a many points in each ride.
Me and Peter we were also judges for this event. It is quite hard when you judge your partner. If it goes well than it is pleasure but if not than it is very hard. In my third final ride I lose my position and got on second place. I was little bit sad because I was leading all the time but I had bad tactic for the final. It was enough for qualification but not for final. I didn’t change it what was mistake. So Peter was judging me and I was quite angry with him but I know he was right. This is why it is hard but otherwise I know that he judge everyone same. I didn’t have such a problem with judging like he. Peter’s ride was perfect and he did everything for 100percent and won with score 950 points.
He brought home prize money 250 euro and tandem paraglide flight which he won in raffle :)
