This year is the weather a bit crazy in whole Europe. Slovakia isn’t a exception. We had floods from early spring in many parts of country. Even at such a places where they never had this problems before. We are so sorry because many people lost a lot...but we were lucky and found something great.
We found this waves last year but it wasn’t running very often… This year we had a great opportunity and could surf this waves for several times. In the may-june it was running for two week non-stop.
After that we still had a few options every month to go for on or two days.
There are a severals waves which are running at different water level. It is cca 100 meters after dam on the Vah river at the Trenčín. Most of the time they release 10 cubics but when it rains a lot they need to release much more to dewater upper areas.
This week wasn’t forecast very optimistic and there was rain almost for all the time. We awaited a big water there and we were right. Tuesday morning there flowed 900cubics of water. We came as soon as could. 800 cubics is for a 100 meters narrow channel too much and sometimes it was too scary to paddle trough. I felt like paddling on the Zambezi. The waves are changing with water levels. The best level is at 400 cubics when there is the best wave in the Europe. It is a stabile wave with enough foam for stick all the tricks.
This week we had this level for three days which caused that we are broken as never before. We were paddling all the time because we were afraid that water drop and we lost it.  Every freestyle paddler from Slovakia and some from Czech came there so we joined paddling with party with the kayak friends.
I think there is still chance that it will run this year again if so we will be there for sure!
