It has been a while since we came home from sunny Uganda. The weather in Europe wasn’t very nice, but we didn’t stay at home very long. This year, the competition season starts quite soon so we can’t wait for warm weather.

We started with Plattling and Augsburg where the World Cups will be held. Peter was trying his new boat in these holes and it works pretty well. I think he will have a big advantage in the competitions with his ‘’new gun’’. Plattling is very busy during the weekends, because many kayakers are coming here to prepare for the upcoming World Cup. Therefore we met here many friends. It is nice to also watch other paddlers and to not just train alone. In Augsburg there weren’t many people. The “Waschmaschine” is quite a difficult and very powerful hole. It is not easy to train there, because after a while you get really tired.

Last weekend we were in Kuchl where Peter had a training clinic with some Austrian guys as every year at this time. The water level was good, but the weather was windy and chilly. There was even snow on Sunday morning. It wasn’t comfortable for paddling, but when we saw a surfer swimming in the cold water we were happy we sit in kayaks.

When we are not abroad, we train at home at our local spot in Cunovo. We are paddling every day, sometimes twice a day. Now that’s quite a lot, but we want to be in good condition and after all the competitions we can have a nice long holiday. And I am really looking forward to that!
